MIRPURKHAS: Duststorm hits Mirpurkhas

MIRPURKHAS, April 8: A duststorm hit the district and its adjoining areas on Wednesday evening, uprooting trees and signboards. Traffic remained suspended for half an hour on different roads. The duststorm also led to power disruption for four hours.

Patients in hospitals faced hardships due to the power failure. When contacted, a Hesco employee told this correspondent that power supply was disconnected due to a fault in a high-tension line.

The areas which remained without power included Lalchandabad, Taurabad, Dholanabad, Thamsabad, Hirabad, Hameedpura Colony, Khar Para, Mir Allah Bachayo Colony, Satellite town, Mehmoodabad, Pak Colony and Rajar Colony.

ARRESTED: The Excise police arrested two persons near the Samaro Road here on Thursday and recovered a big quantity of narcotics from their possession. Those arrested were identified as Ismail Makrani and Aslam Makrani. Their third accomplice, Anwar Makrani, escaped.

The Excise police recovered 5.5 kilograms of charas, 1.5 kgs of opium and 35 bottles of liquor. A case was registered against the accused.

LOOTED: A businessman, Mehboob Khan, was robbed of Rs104,000 by two persons in the Kot Ghulam Mohammad town on Thursday. Police registered the case.
