GUJRANWALA, April 6: The Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed happiness over the decision of Economic Coordination Committee of the cabinet regarding the setting up of an export processing zone (EPZ) here.
A chamber meeting on Tuesday expressed the hope that it would encourage small and medium enterprises. The meeting was told that the industrial exhibition was a success and export has been increased up to $225 million from $85 million.
CRUSHED TO DEATH: A man and his son were crushed under the wheels of a speeding truck on GT Road in Ghakkhar on Tuesday. PRQ section commander Imtiaz Nasir and his son Ali were walking along the road when the accident took place.
The truck driver escaped from the scene leaving behind his vehicle. In another incident, Umar Butt was crossing the railway track by his cycle when he was crushed by the train.
HEARING: The anti-terrorism court No 2 recorded the statements of complainants in the murder case of city PPP president Khalid Humayun on Tuesday and adjourned the hearing for April 10. According to the prosecution, Vegetable Market Commission Agents Association president Chaudhry Siddiq and his sons Sadiq and Asif murdered Khalid Humayun.
