ISLAMABAD, April 4: Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka 5-4 on penalty shootout on Saturday night to set a potentially explosive clash against India in Monday's final of the SAF Games football tournament.
Pakistan captain Mohammad Essa grabbed the lead for the hosts in the second session. Pakistan goalkeeper saved a number of attacks, but the home team scored an own goal to restore parity.
The game was decided on penalty kicks after both team remained locked at 1-1 even after extra time. Pakistan have twice won SAF Games gold in football.
Boxing finals
Pakistani pugilists put up a commendable performance in the Boxing event of the 9th SAF Games, as four of them moved into the finals of various categories. In the Light Flyweight Pakistan's Noman Karim beat Suranjoy Singh Mayengbam in the semi final.
The other finalist was Shoukat Ali Chatta of Pakistan in Heavyweight category beating Nepal's Kulbahadur Rawal in the semi final. Pakistani Nisar Khan eliminated Nepal's Hari Chandra Khadka in the semi final of Welter Weight to move into the final. In the Fly Weight semi final, Shoaib Rashid of Pakistan beat Afghanistan's Mohammad Dawood Mohammadi.

India won gold medals in both men and women's doubles in table tennis competitions of the 9th SAF Games at Hamidi Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex, on Sunday.
India were already assured of golds, as well as silvers, as the all-Indian pairs were in the finals of these events. In men's doubles final, Achanta Sharath Kamal and Soumy Adeep Roy disposed of Subhajit Saha and Ranabir Das 12-14, 11-7, 11-7 and 11-2 while in the women's final, Mouma Das and Vishakha Vijay prevailed upon Poulomat Ghatak and Mantu Ghosh 11-8, 11-5, 9-11, 9-11, 11-6.
kabaddi final
RAWALPINDI: Pakistan and India will play for gold medal in the kabbadi event of the 9th SAF games at the Army Stadium on Monday. Pakistan and India both have won their respective three league matches and are leading the event with six points each.
They will play against each other in the last league of the match. India in its league match on Sunday comfortably defeated Sri Lanka by 48-15. India dominated the proceedings of the match from the very start and was leading with 25-14 at the breather.
Prominent players among Indians were Suresh Kumar, Rajbir Singh, Ramesh Kumar and Bhima Birada. Sri Lanka players could not match the finer skills of the Indian players and had to struggle hard for their 15 points. In another league match, Bangladesh won against Nepal by 28 points with the final score of 41-13. -APP
