JHANG: 16 killed in two accidents

JHANG, April 4: Sixteen people were killed and 27 others injured in two road accidents on Sunday. Eleven people were killed and seven others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a wagon near Malhowana Morr on the Jhang-Bhakkar Road, some 15km from here.

A Bhakkar-bound bus collided with a wagon coming from the opposite side on the Jhang-Bhakkar-Multan Road while overtaking a truck. Eleven wagon passengers died on the spot while seven others sustained injuries. The injured were taken to hospital.

Those killed include Saqib Ali, wagon driver Arshad, Ghulam Mohammad, Iltaf Husain Khan and Farid Ali. In another incident which took place near Feroza tehsil, some 20km from Khanpur, Rahimyar Khan, five people were killed and 20 others injured when a coach overturned due to rain.

The coach was going to Sadiqabad from Faisalabad. Five people, including Noor Ahmad, Manzoor, Khalida Parveen and Saima Irshad, died on the spot, while 20 others sustained injuries. The injured were taken to hospital where the condition of Asif Javed, Zia Ahmad, Santosh Kumar and Munir was stated to be critical.
