BADIN, April 3: MNA Dr Attiya Inayatullah has said that any decision over water issue without consent of the people of Sindh will lead to hatred among provinces.

However, she said that she was referring to "water issue" not Kalabagh dam or any other water project and added that to tackle the water problem, government should take a judicious decision.

Talking to journalists at circuit house here the other day, she said that the people were sincere but there was a vacuum of sincere leadership in the country.

She said that opposition should perform positive role in the assemblies and avoid wasting time by beating desks.

The MNA expressed concern over resurgence of TB in Badin district where poverty level has crossed all limits.

She said that population growth had tremendous effect on development indicators and the people and the government should keep in mind available resources while dealing with population issue.

She called upon the people to reaffirm their resolve in promoting population welfare measures to effectively tackle the population explosion.

She claimed that population growth rate had declined in the country and said that in the year 1989, the rate was 3.89 per cent which had come down to 2.06 per cent.

Expressing her satisfaction over the working of Family Planning Association of Pakistan, Badin chapter, she hailed the performance of Dr Hurmat Soomro who had successfully handled 180,000 family planning cases in five years in Badin.

Dr Attiya said that Badin (Sindh), Chakwal (Punjab), Kohat (the NWFP) and Turbat (Balochistan) had been selected under Million Development Programme and Badin was the testing ground.

Later, she inaugurated the electrification of the Soomra village and said that the village had been energized from her quota.
