DADU, April 2: A partial strike was observed in Bhan Saeedabad on Friday in protest against the murder of a trader, Haresh Kumar, by bandits in his house on Thursday.
The bazaars and shopping centres remained partially closed.
Led by the chairman, Citizens Action Committee, Abdul Wahid Memon, and president, Hindu Panchayat, Kanahya Lal Shahwani, a large number of residents, traders and members of Hindu community also took out a procession.
They alleged that the local police had failed to arrest the dacoits and threatened if they were not arrested in 24 hours, they would call for a district-wide strike.
Meanwhile, DPO Ali Akbar Bhangwar claimed that the killers of Kumar had been arrested on Friday. He said that they were identified as Phoroho, Ghulam Shabbir, Wali Mohammad and Ghulam Rasool alias Sono, all Machhi by caste.
ARRESTED: Four alleged dacoits were arrested after a two-hour long encounter here on Friday, operation DPO Ali Akbar Bhangwar said.
He told newsmen that on a tip off, police cordoned off Mohammad Shah Colony and asked the dacoits to surrender but they started firing on the police. In retaliation, police also opened fire. After the exchange of fire, gang leader Wazir Chandio, Ghulam Bahadur Chandio, Sain Bukhsh Chandio and Ayaz Mallah were arrested but their two accomplices escaped.
