RAWALPINDI, March 27: Chief of the banned Islami Tehrik-i- Pakistan (ITP) Sajid Ali Naqvi was released from the Adiala Jail here on Saturday. The Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, on Friday had granted bail to Mr Naqvi in Maulana Azam Tariq murder case.
A large number of party activists had gathered outside the Adiala Jail when the Allama was released at 4:30pm. Later, Mr Naqvi was taken to his Satellite Town residence in a procession.
In a statement, Mr Naqvi termed his release the victory of truth and justice. He said he had always strived for the unity of Ummah and religious harmony in the country. He said he had no connections with any terrorist group as he always condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
Unfortunately, he added, the country had not seen full implementation of the Constitution due to which extremism had been breeding at the gross-roots level over the years.
He also condemned the recent terrorist attacks against Shia community in Quetta and demanded immediate arrest of those responsible.
