Reshuffle in top bureaucracy

ISLAMABAD, March 23: In a major reshuffle in the top bureaucracy, the government promoted and transferred on Monday 15 district management group and secretariat group officers, an official of the establishment division told Dawn late Monday night. He said that an officer of secretariat group has been made an OSD.

The official said Syed Tariq Ali Bukhari, a secretariat group officer, has been promoted to grade-22 and made Establishment Division secretary in place of Javed Hasan Ali, who has been transferred and posted as secretary, ministry of environment.

Establishment Division Additional Secretary Amjad Gondal told Dawn that Dr Agha Ghazanfar, a secretariat group officer in BPS-22, has been transferred and posted as secretary, statistic division.

Salim Gul Sheikh, an information group officer, has been promoted to grade-22 and posted as secretary, Privatization Commission division; Dr Shaikh Aleem Mahmood, a secretariat group officer, has been promoted to grade-22 and posted as secretary, ministry of women development, social welfare and special education; Mohammad Jahangir Bashar, also a secretariat group officer, has been promoted to grade-22 and posted as secretary, Board of Investment; Ashfaq Mehmood, an OSD officer of planning group, has been posted as secretary, ministry of Kashmir Affairs and Northern Areas; Syed Bilal Ahmed a secretariat group officer, has been promoted to grade-22 and posted as special secretary in the finance division (military); Waqar Ahmed, an audit and accounts officer has been promoted to grade-22 and posted as secretary, petroleum and natural resources.

Syed Jalil Abbas, a district management group officer, has been promoted to grade-22 and posted as secretary, ministry of culture, tourism, sports, youth and minorities in place of Major (retired) Khalid Latif, a secretariat group officer, who has been made an OSD in the establishment division.

Dr Salik Nazir Ahmad, a DMG officer, has been transferred and posted as executive director, National Institute of Population Studies; Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, NWFP chief secretary, a DMG officer, has been promoted to grade-22.

Mohammad Humayun Farshori, a DMG officer, has been promoted to grade-22 and posted as secretary, ministry of labour and manpower; Tariq Mehmood, a DMG officer, has been promoted to grade-22 and posted as secretary, ministry of food, agriculture and livestock; Mohammad Jamil, a DMG officer, has been promoted and posted as secretary, ministry of housing and works.
