ISLAMABAD, March 5: Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal secretary-general Maulana Fazlur Rehman and ARD chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim on Friday agreed to resume mutual cooperation between the two opposition alliances on 'minimum points and on issue-to-issue basis'.
Maulana Fazl, who was accompanied by Hafiz Hussain Ahmed, visited the Mr Fahim's residence and discussed with him political issues for about 90 minutes. Talking to Dawn later, Hafiz Hussain Ahmed said both leaders agreed that mutual contacts that continued till the passage of the 17th Amendment had weakened and needed restrengthening.
He said efforts were under way to meet PML-N's acting president Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to seek the party's cooperation. At a news conference on Thursday, the PML-N leader had hinted at extending the ARD's cooperation to the MMA on the floor of the National Assembly.
Mr Amin and Maulana Fazal discussed a host of issues, including military operation in Wana, Quetta massacre and the nuclear crisis. Hafiz Hussain Ahmed said the two leaders, during the meeting, had expressed satisfaction over the cooperation going on between the alliances in the Senate.
