LAHORE, March 4: Police failed on Thursday to resolve the mystery of the death of seven members of two families who were found dead on Tuesday and Wednesday. The family of naib qasid Raja Khalil - his wife, two sons and a daughter - were found slaughtered in their house inside Mochi Gate.
Police said they had not yet found any clue to the gruesome crime. However, investigating officer said at least two men had been marked as suspects. "One of them is being interrogated," he claimed and added raids were being conducted for the arrest of other man.
Meanwhile, police failed to make headway in the murder case of the wife of an irrigation department former secretary, his son and daughter-in-law. Dr Farrukh Haroon, his wife Maria and mother Iffat Saad Haroon were found dead in the back seat of their car parked in their rented house in South Cantonment.
Exhaust of the car had been diverted into the vehicle with the help of a rubber pipe, which might have caused suffocation leading to their deaths. Apparently, an investigator said, the incident seemed to be a suicide case as they found two notes left by the family.
However, he said, there was also a dispute over a house in Zaman Park between the family and a relative and one of their tenants. It could be a motive for their murder, he added. He said the bodies have been returned to the family after autopsy. The report would determine the cause of death.
