LAHORE: 'Husain's sacrifice is joint heritage'

LAHORE, March 1: Governor Khalid Maqbool has said that Hazrat Imam Husain's supreme sacrifice for the cause of truth is a joint heritage of Muslims of all schools of thought and as such a symbol of unity of Muslim Ummah.

In his message on Youm-i-Ashur, the governor paid homage to the martyrs of Karbala and observed that Hazrat Imam Husain laid down his life for the principles of Islam and set a noble example for the mankind for all times to come.

He said that the heroic sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Husain and his companions was not for the achievement of earthly gain but for upholding the eternal values of Islam.

The governor prayed that may Allah Almighty enable us to set up a joint and egalitarian society based on the golden principles of Islam for which Hazrat Imam Husain laid down his life.

CM: Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has said that the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Husain inspires us to be ready to make any sacrifice for upholding human values.

In his message on Youm-i-Ashur here on Monday, the chief minister said that Hazrat Imam Husain set a noble example of laying down his life for the cause of truth.

"We should also on this occasion renew our determination to act upon the teachings of Hazrat Imam Husain who made no compromise on the principles of Islam," he said.

"We should rise above sectarian differences and promote tolerance in society as Hazrat Imam Husain sacrificed his life in Karbala to discourage such unislamic trends as materialism and injustice for the revival of true Islamic values," he added.

The chief minister said that Hazrat Imam Husain throughout his life set glorious examples of unity, tolerance, harmony and brotherhood among the Muslims and everyone should follow in his footsteps for salvation in the world herein and hereafter. -APP
