KARACHI, Feb 27: Unlike the past practice of presenting budget in the end of June, the city government's budget for the fiscal 2004-05 will be tabled before the city council in the first week of April.

Under the new budget rules communicated to the CDGK by the Sindh government, the CDGK's budget proposals for the next financial year are required to be presented before the House in April, so that the members of the council might get sufficient period to deliberate upon each and every proposal in the budget, before approving the same in June.

Though City Nazim Niamatullah Khan will present the CDGK's next financial year's budget proposals for its various departments and development projects in the House in the first week of April, it will be approved by the House by the end of June. Meanwhile, the CDGK is likely to hold a pre-budget seminar in March, to elicit public opinion on uplift plans.
