HARIPUR: Probe into NICs' sale under way

By Our Correspondent

HARIPUR, Feb 26: Officials of the interior ministry are investigating into the alleged sale of ID cards, forms, and other material to a junk-seller, sources told this correspondent here on Thursday.

Earlier, a junk-seller was found offering items, including identity forms, RG-4 register, photocopies of old identity cards, thousand of photographs of registered persons and a few of the new identity cards, for sale. The junk-seller later said he had allegedly bought these items from someone.

The local registration officer, Akram Khan, told this correspondent that the material belonged to his office. Taking cognizance of the state of affairs at the Haripur registration office, the interior ministry and Nadra authorities ordered an inquiry.

The inquiry team, which visited Haripur, met the junk-seller, who led them to a house of an employee of Nadra in Kot Najibullah. The team members were told that the father of the Nadra employee had unknowingly sold these items as junk.
