KARACHI, Feb 25: Three police sub-inspectors have been booked for picking up, detaining and torturing a man and his son and tormenting female members of their family for extorting money, the Sindh High Court was informed on Wednesday.

Jalaluddin of village Saeed Khan Lakho, district and taluka Khairpur, had moved a writ petition through Advocate M. Nawaz Shaikh giving details of the inhuman treatment meted out to him and his son, Muhammed Saleh, by the three Sukkur region SIs - Tahir Hussain Mughal, Khair Mohammad Samejo and Ahmed Ali Solangi.

A division bench had asked the inspector-general of police to entertain the petitioner's complaint, register a case, investigate the allegations and take action against the accused if they were found prima facie guilty.

The Sukkur region additional inspector-general informed the SHC that an FIR had been ordered to be lodged against the three SIs. They had also been proceeded against under the efficiency and discipline rules.

According to the statement of allegations against them, they picked up Jalaluddin from his house after arresting his son and kept them confined at several places.

The detainees were forced to indulge in unnatural acts, according to the statement which added that female members of their family were contacted on phone and the petitioner's wife had to pay them Rs3,000.
