HYDERABAD, Feb 19: Activists of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy continued their protest in major towns of interior Sindh for the seventh consecutive day on Thursday.

In Hyderabad, a protest camp was set up by women's and labour wings of the People's Party Parliamentarians. Speaking on the occasion, MNA Shagufta Jumani, MPA Farheen Mughal, Mir Fateh Talpur, Lal Bux Kalhoro and others criticized policies of President Gen Pervez Musharraf.

They demanded the withdrawal of cases against PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari and the immediate release of the latter.

DADU: PPP activists took out a procession from the party office and after marching through different roads of the town held a demonstration for two hours.

They were led by MNA Rafiq Ahmad Jamali, MPA Sharafunnisa Leghari, Qazi Shafiq Ahmad Mahessar, Dost Ali Jaiser and Talat Hussain Mahessar. Talking to the protesters, Mr Jamali said Sindh was deprived of its political, financial and water share due to policies of the president.

He said the present government was not a democratic government and the ARD would continue its struggle till the removal of Gen Musharraf.

KHAIRPUR: MNA Syed Fazal Shah, MPAs Nawab Wassan, Zahid Ali Bhambhan, Dr Mehreen Bhutto and activists of the PPP observed a token hunger strike at the Chatti Chowk.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders condemned what they called black-marketing of application forms for jobs in the Sindh education department in the district.

They also condemned the baton-charge of unemployed youth who had gathered to collect the forms. They claimed that a form was being sold at Rs400 in the district instead of the prescribed price of Rs100.

BADIN: Led by MNA Dr Fehmida Mirza, Hyderabad PPP president Abdul Sattar Bachani and Sindh Pakistan Muslim League-N vice-president Mohammad Afzal Gujjar, ADD activists observed a token hunger strike in Tando Bago against the government.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders said the country's integrity was at stake due to the policies of the government. They said they would continue the campaign till the restoration of a true democracy and the return of Ms Bhutto and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif. Later, the protesters marched through main roads of Tando Bago.

NAWABSHAH: Hundreds of women activists of the PPP took out a procession, held a demonstration and staged a sit-in outside the press club. Led by Nawabshah District Council member Qamarunnisa Dhamrah, the procession started from the Zardari House and after passing through different streets reached at the press club.

The protesters were joined by PML-N general-secretary Mamnoon Hussain, MNA Dr Azra Pechuho, MPA Ghulam Qadir Chandio, People's Hari Committee president Zulfiqar Khaskheli and others.

Later, talking to journalists, Mr Hussain claimed that the nuclear technology was in the control of army and nothing could be done without them. Saleem Zia of the PML-N said consensus among the provinces was necessary for construction of the Kalabagh dam and the Thal canal.

LARKANA: The PPP took out a big procession from Warah town to here. Led by Abdul Sattar Paichuho, a large number of PPP activists in buses took a round of the city before reaching the ARD camp outside Jinnah Bagh, which echoed with the slogans of "go Musharraf go."

MNAs Khalid Iqbal Memon and Hizbullah Bughio, MPAs Aziz Jatoi, Haji Munawar Ali Abbasi and Najmuddin Abro, Sindh ARD chief Zain Ansari, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader Sardar Raheem, Agha Siraj Durrani and others were present at the camp.
