LAHORE: Nazim for restoring beauty of Lahore

By Our Reporter

LAHORE, Feb 16: District Nazim Mian Amer has asked town municipal administrations to restore the beauty of the city by launching a campaign for removal of massive encroachments and taking the government properties back from land grabbers.

Presiding over a meeting here on Monday, the Nazim said encroachments had destroyed the traditional beauty of the historic city on the one hand and were disrupting the civic life by hindering the flow of traffic on the other.

The Nazim said removal of encroachments was the responsibility of town administrations under the law. The CDG was, however, ready to extend all possible assistance to the towns in the form of machinery, personnel and police force for dealing with the scourge.

The executive district officer (works) had been directed to provide all possible assistance to the town administrations in this regard whenever requested, he said.

He said the CDG had also decided to build toilets of uniform design at 40 spots in the provincial metropolis. Toilets of old design would be demolished to facilitate the construction of new ones, and those in unauthorized possession would be ejected.
