Indian team arrives on peace mission

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1: A delegation of Indian anti-communalism group "Act Now for Harmony and Democracy" and Action Aid India arrived here on Sunday on a week-long tour to Pakistan as part of their peace and harmony mission.
The delegation will speak on Gujrat carnage, religious tolerance and peace. It comprises Prof K. N. Panikkar, Saeed Mirza, Nandita Das, Harsh Mandar, Gauhar Raza, Shabnam Hashmi, Sandeep Chachara and Jerry Almeido.
During their stay, the delegates will speak at different functions in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi aimed at creating communal harmony for peace. Action Aid Pakistan country director Dr Fouzia Saeed has arranged an Eid Milan reception to meet the Indian delegation on Tuesday.
The delegation will leave for Karachi on Wednesday where they will meet peace activists, progressive writers and participate in various programmes. Action Aid India country director Harsh Mandar and writer of a book "Cry my beloved country: reflections on the Gujrat Carnage" along with Shabnam Hashimi and Arif Hassan will take part in a discussion on "Human Rights and Religious Intolerance" to be hosted by I.A. Rahman of Human Rights Commission of Pakistan.
The delegation will reach Lahore on February 6, where they will attend several functions.
