PRCS discusses future relief services

ISLAMABAD, Jan 31: The newly appointed managing body of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) on Saturday met at its headquarters to discuss ways and means to make the PRCS an independent and self-reliant society for effective disaster relief and humanitarian services.

The meeting, presided over by chairman PRCS Lt-Gen Jahandad Khan (retired), was attended by adviser to the prime minister on population Nilofer Bakhtiar, Senator Mushahid Hussain, secretaries ministries of finance, information, cabinet division and others.

The meeting also discussed budget estimates and resource mobilization at the federal and provincial level for the year 2004.

Viable avenues of fund generation for future humanitarian undertakings and best utilization of available or raised resources also came under discussion.
