Police get remand of blast case suspect

KARACHI, Jan 19: A worker of the outlawed group Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, who is suspected to be involved in the recent bombings near the offices of Pakistan Bible Society, was handed over to the police on Monday for interrogation in two separate cases.

Shamim Ahmed alias Shami, arrested on Sunday, was brought to the court of the Judicial Magistrate, South, Rahmatullah Moro, by the police who obtained his custody in a case pertaining to the seizure of weapons and explosives on his lead.

According to the police, a sub-machine gun, 15 hand grenades and four kilograms of explosiveswere seized from a house in Mehmoodabad on the suspect's lead. The magistrate remanded him to the police custody until Jan 26. The police also produced the suspect in the court of Judicial Magistrate, East, who remanded him to police custody in a case registered by Sharea Faisal police station.
