KARACHI, Jan 19: An exhibition of Japanese calendars commenced at the V.M. Art Gallery here on Monday. The two-day event has been organized by the Japan Cultural Centre in collaboration with the Rangoonwala Community Centre.

Around 125 calendars from Japan depicting traditional culture, arts and crafts, nature, lifestyle, scenic beauty, and Ikebana have been put on display.

Acting consul-general of Japan in Karachi, Hitoshi Neki, said that the exhibition would help the visitors understand Japanese culture as well as the printing and advertising techniques being used in Japan. He said that the exhibition would also contribute towards enhancing the knowledge of people about the recent situation in Japan.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Director Current Affairs and General Manager of PTV Karachi centre, Athar Viqar Azim, lauded the efforts of the organizers. He said that Pakistan and Japan enjoyed deep friendly ties, which were being enhanced with the passage of time. - APP
