PESHAWAR: Officials accused of promoting crimes

PESHAWAR, Jan 17:The People's Students Federation (PSF) has demanded of the governor to order an inquiry into financial scams and other financial transactions in Jamrud Agency.
Speaking at a press conference here at the Peshawar Press Club on Friday, PSF Peshawar University chief Mohammad Ibrahim alleged that the officials of the assistant political agent were responsible for the growing crimes in the agency.
He claimed that criminal gangs had been enjoying full support of the agency's administration in their unlawful businesses.
He also demanded the release of Ikramullah Jan Kokikhel, chief of the Zawan Pakhtun Gawand, arrested by the agency administration on Dec 26 last for decrying the arrest of the local students. The students of government college, Landikotal, took out a procession against the recurring spells of loadshedding on Dec 25 and demanded unhampered power supply to the area, he added.
He also criticized Khasadar force which arrested 36 students and put them in Jamrud lock-up. On thevery next day, Mr Kokikhel visited the lock-up and inquired aboutthe health of the injured.
He said the Khasadar force also detained Mr Kokikhel on orders of the APA Jamrud, Riaz Mehsud. Later, Mr Kokikhel and the 36 students were shifted to the lock-up at the PA, Khyber agency in Peshawar, he added.
Mr Ibrahim asked the political and human rightsorganizations to take a strong notice of the human rights violations across the Khyber agency. He also accused PA Khyber Agency Riaz Mehsudof extorting money from bootleggers, smugglers of Wazir Dhand area.
