SAHIWAL: Minister's PA arrested for corruption

SAHIWAL, Jan 3: The local Anti-Corruption Establishment on Saturday arrested personal assistant of the provincial education minister on the charge of corruption.
Muhammad Siddique Hashmi allegedly got appointed a person on fake appointment orders. After the appointment, the PA also reportedly embezzled his salary. The ACE investigated the matter and got registered a case against him after finding him guilty of charges.
Meanwhile, the ACE also arrested Yousafwala ASI Azadar Hussain alleged for his involvement in a fraud case. The accused ASI misappropriated police uniforms worth thousands of rupees.
The judicial magistrate consigned both the accused to the Central Jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
FIVE DIE: Five people lost their lives due to intense cold weather during the last four days.
Akmal (30) of Chak 62/EB was admitted to the local DHQ Hospital with an attack of pneumonia due to extreme weather, but he could not survive.
Talia Bibi of Chak 90/9-L, Roshan Bibi of Chak 150/9-L, Amir Bukhsh of Chak 38/12-L and Siddique of Chak 185/9-L also perished at the DHQ Hospital.
SHOT DEAD: A man shot dead a rickshaw driver on Saturday reportedly to take revenge for insulting his father in a nearby Chak 65/5-L.
Ramzan hired a rickshaw from Yousafwala for Chak 65/5-L. After reaching the village, he asked driver Ghulam Rasool to take him to another village. But a dispute erupted on the question of fare. Ramzan told his son Iqbal about the incident after reaching home. To take revenge, Iqbal along with his two accomplices came to the rickshaw stand and shot dead Ghulam Rasool instantly.
