KARACHI, Dec 31: A meeting of the Dawn Unit of the Karachi Union of Journalists on Wednesday reiterated its call for the implementation of the Seventh Wage Award.

The meeting noted that non-implementation of the Seventh Wage Award as well as delay in the resolution of move-over and related cases by the management had been adding to the economic problems of the journalists and other employees.

Through a resolution, the meeting urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to expeditiously decide on the Wage Award matters, pending in the Supreme Court. The meeting also elected Nizamuddin Siddiqui as chief of Dawn's unit of the KUJ for 2004. Shahid Ahmed and Mairaj Fatimah were elected deputy chiefs.
