LARKANA: Two suspended for fraud

LARKANA, Dec 27: The authorities of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Larkana, suspended an office superintendent and a clerk after a fraud was detected in the BISE bank account.

When contacted, the BISE secretary told this correspondent on Wednesday that during checking he found certain suspected entries in the account book.

He said it was revealed that two cheques of Rs1,125 and Rs1,930 were got cashed from the Habib Bank Limited, Lahori locality branch, by changing the amount figure to Rs10,125 and Rs10,930 respectively.

BISE Employees Union president Mohammad Ibrahim Massan and Tanvir Ahmad, who prepares professors’ cheques, were suspended and an inquiry committee, headed by the EDO, education, and with district accounts officer as its member, was constituted to probe into the matter.

BISE chairman Ali Nawaz Palijo confirmed the fraud and said the matter had been reported to the Sindh governor.

He said following recommendations of the inquiry committee, further action would be taken against the accused.

LEISHMANIASIS: A three-member team of experts from Japan doing research on leishmaniasis in collaboration with two skin specialists of the Chandka Medical College, Larkana, has decided to continue the project.

Speaking at a meeting held here on Wednesday, Dr Hashiguchi, who heads the team, said Japan would extend full cooperation to control the disease.

DCO Dr Baddaruddain Ujjan said the district government would cooperate with researchers in fighting against the disease.

Dr Farooque Rehman Soomro said the team members had visited Warah, Kambar, Shahdadkot, Mirokhan and other remote areas of Larkana and Jacobabad districts in Sindh and Quetta, Macch, Sibi, Jhal Magsi and surrounding areas in Balochistan.

He said cases of leishmaniasis were still reported in hilly areas of both the provinces.
