Published December 19, 2003

PESHAWAR, Dec 18: A 10-member delegation from the Kohat district called on the NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah here on Thursday and apprised him about their problems.

The delegation, which was led by Nazim of the Usterzai union council Syed Mehtabul Hassan, sought the governor’s intervention in the murder case of one Subedar Galoom Khan of the Tochi Scouts, who, according to them, was allegedly killed by one of his colleagues, adding it would help bring the accused involved to justice.

Members of the delegation also called for a permanent solution to the land dispute amongst the people of the Kachai area, a border point between the Orakzai Agency and the Kohat district.

Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah assured the delegation to take necessary steps in consultation with the authorities concerned.

Talking about the dispute, the Governor said, he would soon visit Kohat during which he would listen to the points of view of the local tribal leaders and officials from both the Orakzai Agency and Kohat district, adding that he would take necessary decision accordingly.

Syed Mehtabul Hassan and other members of the delegation thanked the governor for providing them an opportunity to meet and present their grievances to him.—APP
