KARACHI, Dec 17: Chief Minister Ali Mohammed Mahar on Wednesday brushed aside attempts to destabilize his government and said that if any minister was displeased with him, he should resign.
Talking to newsmen in his assembly chambers, the CM said action would be taken against certain ‘mischievous elements’ while attempts would be made to win over some of the estranged ones.
The conversation pertained to the 17 Sindh MPAs’ meeting with PML chief Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain. Mr Mahar maintained that those having any grievances should have come to him. He said he would do his best to resolve their problems on merit.
The chief minister, who would be leaving for Islamabad on Thursday, made it clear that he would not do anything against rules.
When asked about the move by the group of 17 MPAs and four ministers, the CM pointed out that the PML chief had cancelled his luncheon that was to be hosted in their honour in Islamabad on Tuesday and directed them to attend the assembly session on Wednesday.
Mr Mahar said Chaudhary Shujaat and the party leadership had complete confidence in him.
“I am running a coalition government and I am in contact with everyone,” the CM pointed out, and said that he had decided to hold meetings with MPAs of each district to get their problems resolved in the presence of home secretary, IGP and other concerned officials.
When asked about registration of a case against a member of Sheerazi group, Mr Mahar stated that during his one year term in office, he did not get any case registered against anyone. He said he could not resort to such mean act.
