Blair supports Pakistan’s case

LONDON, Dec 7: British Prime Minister Tony Blair said on Sunday Pakistan had made a lot of progress in meeting the criterion laid down by the Commonwealth, for its re-admission to the organization.

The British prime minister was responding to a question on Pakistan’s re-entry into the Commonwealth during an interview with Sky News.

“There is a set of procedure already laid down for Pakistan and I think people understand, they made quite a lot of progress there,” said Mr Blair in response to a question on Pakistan and Zimbabwe.

He said the case of Pakistan could not be compared with that of Zimbabwe’s as it had made progress towards the Commonwealth criterion.

“I think, that is further along the track than Zimbabwe,” he added.—APP
