Hayee spells out party stand

QUETTA, Dec 7: The Chief Organizer of the newly-formed National Party, Dr Abdul Hayee Baloch, has said that his party would provide a platform to unite all true democratic nationalist forces to struggle for the just rights of the people, from Zhob to Gwadar.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the party’s central secretariat here on Sunday, he said the country, specially Balochistan, badly needed a political form whose leadership was from among the masses and was aware of the problems being faced by the people.

Dr Hayee said it was a matter of great concern that despite the coming into existence of the country since 55 years no basic change was brought in the lives of the poor masses.

He further said that it was need of the hour to organize civil society and the people consciously so that they could play their role in getting rid of the anti-people forces.

Pakistan, The NP leader went on to say was a multinational state consisting of four nationalities, and as federating units they had equal rights.

“Instead of protecting the rights of the people of the units the rulers were safeguarding the interests of the multinational companies as they represented them in the government,” he said, and added that the government was not developing Gwadar for benefiting the local people but through constructing Gwadar deep seaport the rulers wanted the multinational companies to exploit the resources.

Referring to the next NFC award, he said Islamabad was making efforts to come out with the new NFC Award on the basis of population, which would benefit Punjab alone whereas the three small provinces needed more funds for their speedy development.

Islamabad should give resources’ share to Balochistan on the basis of its requirements and area and not only on population basis, Dr Hayee demanded of the federal government.

Speaking on the occasion, the National Party Deputy Chief Organizer Hasil Bizenjo stressed the need for establishing institutions which depended on a political programme rather than on personalities.

Among others who spoke on the occasion were Dr Abdul Malik, Ms Yasmin Lehri, Dr Shama Yasmin, Ishaq Baloch, MPA, Hanif Baloch and Rafiq Gujar.
