Aga Khan calls on Musharraf, Jamali


ISLAMABAD, Dec 3: Prince Karim Aga Khan called on President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali here on Monday and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

In his separate meetings with the president and the prime minister, Prince Karim Aga Khan held detailed discussions regarding investment cooperation in various fields, especially in the telecommunications, financial, social and economic development sectors.

He appreciated the direction of the government’s economic policies which had helped in restoring investors’ confidence.

The president and the prime minister thanked the Aga Khan for his keen interest in the development of education, health, social welfare and industrial sectors in the country.

President Gen Pervez Musharraf hosted a banquet and Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Jamali a luncheon in the honour of Prince Karim Aga Khan which was attended by ministers, parliamentarians, senior government officials, members of Aga Khan’s entourage and leading members of the Ismaili community.

In the afternoon, Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri and Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz called on Prince Karim Aga Khan and discussed matters relating to the programmes of the Aga Khan Development Network in Pakistan. —APP
