KARACHI, Dec 3: The laying of a brand new polygrass turf at Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) is almost complete and it will be handed over to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Dec 7.
The turf has been expanded by about two metres from all sides to fulfil the requirements of International Hockey Federation (FIH).
A representative of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) which has provided the funds for laying turf on the directive of President Pervez Musharraf is expected to inspect the stadium before it is handed over to PHF.
The new turf is being laid at a cost of around Rs20m which were approved by the President of Pakistan two year’s ago.
HCP is being renovated for the occasion. Outer walls and other areas of the stadium are also being whitewashed.
Around 150 plastic chairs will be installed in the main pavilion while other seats
are cleaned and repaired to make the stadium in a better shape before the series.—APP
