HYDERABAD: JSQM criticizes MQM’s silence: Disputed water projects

HYDERABAD, Dec 3: Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz chief Bashir Qureshi has said that the people of Sindh are disappointed at the silence of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement over the disputed water projects.

He was talking to journalists at the sessions court here on Tuesday where he had come to attend the hearing of a case.

The JSQM chairman said that his party would reject any invitation to discuss the Kalabagh dam and greater Thal canal projects.

He said that future course of action against the projects would be discussed at a meeting of the JSQM supreme council to be held on Dec 6 in Sann.

He said that the two projects were aimed at destroying the agricultural economy of the province.

He said that the JSQM would continue its struggle against the water projects and for the rights of Sindh and support the people and groups who were struggling for the objectives.

SLA: The Sindhi Language Authority announced here on Wednesday that after the conclusion of the first Sindhi language course in November, the Authority would conduct the second course in Hindu Gymkhana, Karachi, from Dec 15.

The authority notified that admission were open for government servants as well as other people including foreigners who wanted to learn Sindhi language.

Admission forms are available at the office of the SLA, National Highway, Hyderabad, Hindu Gymkhana, Karachi, and office of the director-general, Sindh culture and tourism department, Karachi.

EXAMS: The University of Sindh on Wednesday announced that first and second semester examinations of students of bachelor’s and master’s degree courses would start from Dec 11.

The university authorities advised the candidates who had not submitted their examination forms to submit the same at their respective institutes and departments up to Dec 4.

The university has set up 17 examination centres at various institutes and departments at the Allama I. I. Kazi campus, Jamshoro.

The authorities warned that no unconcerned person would be allowed to enter examination centres from 9am to 12 noon during the examinations and candidates would also not be allowed entry without admit cards.

LUMHS: The controller of examinations, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, has announced the results of examinations of MS basic medical science papers of general surgery, orthopaedics, gynaecology and obstetrics.

The controller also announced the results of MS (final) general surgery and orthopaedics postgraduate degree examinations.

The results of examinations of postgraduate diplomas in child health, medical radio diagnosis-I and psychiatric medicine-I were also announced.
