KARACHI, Dec 2: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan, on Tuesday, visited Korangi road and Mauripur road to assess traffic problems on these roads.
He was accompanied by DIG Traffic Yamin Khan, EDO Works and Services Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and other high officials of the city government.
City Nazim was told that the construction work on Mauripur road was going on at a satisfactory pace and carpeting on Northern Bypass would be started soon.
He was informed that the construction work on Hawkesbay road from Gulbai Chowk to PAF Masroor Base was also going on and carpeting on one track of the road would be started from Dec 5, whereas a temporary track had also been constructed to allow smooth flow of traffic.
Naimatullah Khan directed to accelerate the pace of work, with round-the-clock job, so that project could be completed within the stipulated time.
Moreover, the road carpeting near Hino Chowk would be started within a few day for which more than 100 labourers was engaged.
This project has been designed to improve traffic flow on this junction so that vehicles coming from different sides could pass easily.
Later, City Nazim inspected different portions of the project.
BANNED: City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has imposed Section 144 for the next seven days on illegal hydrant at Nishtar Road in Jamshed Town after receiving complaints that unhygienic water is being supplied to people.
Roads in Jamshed Town and in other parts of city are being damaged due to the leakage of water from tankers operating from this hydrant.
Meanwhile, the Nazim also banned entry of heavy vehicles in the metropolis other than the specified times, as notified by the city government to control accidents caused by heavy traffic.
Entry of heavy vehicles will be banned from 7 am to 9 am and 6 pm to 8 pm under Section 144.
City Nazim has also banned lifting of sand from the areas falling under the jurisdiction of city government.
Moreover, swimming, catching and sale of fish and manufacturing of foodstuff for hens from the areas affected by
oil spill from the Tasman Spirit has also been banned forthwith. —PPI
