PESHAWAR, Dec 2: A large number of candidates seeking jobs in the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company protested against the management for not allowing them to appear in the written test held at the Karnal Sher Khan Stadium on Tuesday.
All those candidates who had passed their graduation examinations in second division were stopped from taking the test, though no such criterion was mentioned when Pesco advertised posts about fix months ago, candidates said.
Pesco had invited applications against the posts of field store mangers, line superintendents, line foreman, meter readers, assistant lineman, bill distributors, tubewell operators, etc.
The candidates said that more than 60,000 people had applied for these posts and submitted Rs50 with each application. Pesco earned more than Rs3 million, yet it deprived most of the candidates of their right to appear in the test, they lamented.
The called upon the government to cancel the examination and order the Pesco authorities to conduct the written test again.
