ISLAMABAD, Nov 29: The residents of Balimah village located in the strategically important Kahuta tehsil on the periphery of the capital lack basic facilities like roads and electricity.

During a visit to Dawn offices, the residents said their area lacked clean drinking water, electricity, health and education facilities.

According to the residents, the only source of drinking water supply is polluted with excrements, garbage and carcasses of animals.

There is no health centre in the area, they said.

Narrating their tales of woe, the residents alleged that the only two primary schools in the area were without teachers. Due to lack of basic amenities of life, no teacher is willing to undertake the job in the area, they said.

The residents appealed to the relevant authorities to remove disparities of development in the area and demanded provision of basic amenities of life in an area which is geographically close to the federal capital but developmentally living in the dark ages.
