PESHAWAR: Fata people assured of struggle for rights

PESHAWAR, Nov 29: Chief of Jamaat-i-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmad has assured the tribal elders that Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal would raise its voice for providing fundamental rights to the people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
Talking to a jirga of Khyber Agency here at Al-Markaz-i-Islami on Saturday, the JI leader said that MMA would continue struggle for the rights of tribal areas’ people, a press release said. He told the jirga members that their problems would be raised in parliament and JI would also launch activities to create social and political awareness among the tribesmen.
Earlier, jirga members requested Qazi Hussain Ahmad that JI should establish education institutions, health care centres and launch community welfare activities in tribal region, especially in Khyber Agency.
They complained that the political authorities were misusing funds and proposed that JI should set up special complaint cell at Al Markaz-i-Islami where the tribesmen would lodge their complaints against political administration.
Meanwhile, Qazi Hussain Ahmad criticized the government for observing unilateral ceasefire on Line of Control and Line of Actual Contact in Siachen, saying that the decision amounted to compromise on freedom struggle in the occupied Kashmir and snow- covered Siachen region, our correspondent adds from Nowshera.
Speaking at an Eid Milan party at Risalpur on Saturday, he said that New Delhi was pressing Islamabad to give up its stand on the occupied Kashmir, Siachen and withdraw support to freedom fighters before holding bilateral talks.
“It seems that Pakistan has accepted Indian conditions for the sake of Vajpayee-Jamali meeting,” he said.
He said that MMA would kick off “Musharraf Hatao Movement” across the country if the government failed to present constitutional amendment bill on LFO in parliament.
