PESHAWAR, Nov 22: Offices of the proscribed jihadi outfit Jamiatul Ansar were sealed in Mansehra on Friday night, police officials said here.

The district administration has sealed four offices of the organization in the area since the federal government ordered a crackdown against extremist organizations on Nov 15, said senior police superintendent, Mansehra, Ihsan Tufail.

Law enforcement agencies, he said, sealed offices of Jamiatul Ansar, situated near Madni mosque in the center of the city, which is 300 kilometres northeast of Peshawar.

Two offices of the disbanded Millat-i-Islamia Pakistan in Mansehra and one in Balakot had also been sealed, the SSP said. The police, he added, had not arrested any of these organizations’ activists.

NWFP Home Secretary Abdul Haleem Kasuria, while talking to this correspondent, said that the federal government did not issue any directives for arresting activists of disbanded groups.
