PESHAWAR, Nov 17: Pakis-tan People’s Party (Sherpao) MPA Sikandar Hayat Sherpao has demanded a substantial increase in the share of provinces in the federal divisible pool in the proposed National Finance Commission Award.

In a statement issued on Monday, Sikandar hailed the reconstitution of NFC and hoped that this forum would play vital role to redress the grievances of the provinces.

He proposed the share of the federal government and the federating units at the ratio of 40 and 60 per cent respectively. He said that increase in the share of the provinces would provide an opportunity to them to meet their rising demands for the welfare of the masses.

He opposed the NFC Award 1996, saying that it had robbed the provinces of their genuine rights by making unjustified decrease in their shares.
