KARACHI: Test for PhD fellowship

KARACHI, Nov 17: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced that the GRE (general) type test for 1,000 indigenous PhD fellowships is scheduled to be held on Dec 9, at Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, DI Khan, Mirpur Khas, Faisalabad, Multan, Hyderabad and Muzaffarabad AJ&K simultaneously.

The HEC has also announced that the roll number slips and information regarding the test centres shall be posted to the eligible candidates during the first week of December.

Under this Programme 1,000 fellowships will be awarded in the current financial year, in all areas of studies. The fellowships have priority areas of research in the disciplines of Engineering, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and other Basic Sciences, including Humanities, Social Sciences, Literature, Economics, Management Sciences, Agricultural Sciences and Health Sciences.

A subject-wise merit list would base on the GRE type test results and the academic record of the students. The successful students will have to furnish a surety bond to the government to serve the country for at least a period of five years.—PPI
