Villagers to get soft loans, says ADB

By Our Correspondent

MIRPURKHAS, Nov 15: A rural development project is being launched in four districts of Sindh in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank to provide job opportunities and alleviate poverty.

This was said by Kerin Oswalt, head of a four-member delegation of the ADB, while speaking at a meeting held here on Saturday.

She told the meeting that Rs3663 million had been allocated for the project to be launched in Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Badin and Thatta districts and Rs900 million had been earmarked for Mirpurkhas district.

She said under the project loans, to be paid in easy instalments, would be given to villagers for launching business. She said the project would soon be implemented.

She said a committee would be formed at the district level to supervise the project. Office-bearers of NGOs would be members of the committee.
