ISLAMABAD, Nov 8: On the eve of the 126 birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal, President Gen Pervez Musharraf in his message has said he is one of the greatest thinkers of modern times.

The greatest beauty of Iqbal’s philosophy, he said, is that he suggests the path of understanding Islam in its true perspective in the context of the realities of the modern world.

His approach is pragmatic and based on a deep understanding of teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), he added.

“It is my proud privilege to join the nation on the occasion of the 126 birthday of the poet.”

He urged the nation to follow the message of Allama Iqbal.

PM’S MESSAGE: Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has urged the nation to adhere to the message of Allama Iqbal who strove for a society free of exploitation, for adapting democracy to the Islamic needs and showed the pristine greatness of Islam. “We must endeavour to make his message the sheet anchor of our collective and individual lives,” he said.—APP
