ISLAMABAD Nov 5: Millat Party and National Alliance secretary-general Mohammad Ali Durrani has advised the opposition to move court in the case of detained PML-N leader Javed Hashmi instead of taking to the streets.

Talking to Dawn on Wednesday, the Millat Party leader asked the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) not to play to the tunes of the ARD which wanted it to disengage from the ongoing dialogue with the government on LFO-related issues.

He said the MMA must understand that the path of political dialogue, which it was treading for the last one year, was still valid and if it abandoned it no one else, but itself would be the loser.

The National Alliance leader said the MMA would have never liked to enter into direct confrontation with the army if it had not been taken along by the ARD which was bent upon harming the national institutions.

He said the government was determined not to allow elements who wanted to create misunderstandings between the institution of state and the government, and would not spare anyone who tried to sabotage the balance between the two institutions.

He said Javed Hashmi should not have been so careless to make public a letter which he knew was anonymous and was aimed at maligning the army and creating bitterness in the armed forces.

The government, he said, would not tolerate anyone who tried to destabilize national institutions, including the armed forces.
