KARACHI: KU institute activated

KARACHI, Nov 5: University of Karachi has activated the Institute of Space and Planetary Astrophysics (ISPA).

A KU spokesman said on Wednesday that Mr Shahid Qureshi had been appointed project director of ISPA which had initiated the process of observation of the solar system.

He said that scientific studies and techniques could be of great assistance towards the process of sighting of the moon and there could be no ambiguity towards ‘Ruet-i-Hilal’.

The spokesman said the vice-chancellor had directed that a project for a modern observatory be prepared for presentation before the Higher Education Commission.

He said that the use of modern science for ‘Ruet-i-Hilal’ would add to harmony and cohesion in the country and that our scientists were ready to render this national service.—APP
