DHAKA, Nov 1: Editors and journalists of the Saarc region began a two-day conference in Dhaka on Saturday to review measures for promoting media freedom, better working conditions and flow of information among neighbouring countries through greater cooperation.
The two-day conference, the first of its kind, is set to take stock of issues ranging from working conditions for media professionals to comparative assessment of state-run media and private enterprise, as well as from the media’s overall impact on promotion of regional cooperation.
Inaugurating the conference, the Bangladesh information minister urged the governments of the South Asia countries to “pursue the right course” in promoting the newspaper industry.
