PESHAWAR: Moves opposed to topple MMA govt

By Our Correspondent

PESHAWAR, Oct 25: The youth wing of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Shabab-i-Milli, has cautioned against moves to topple the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal government in the NWFP.

Speaking at a news conference here on Friday, chief of the Shabab-i-Milli, Pakistan, Shahid Pervez said that efforts were underway to remove the provincial government through undemocratic means, adding that such moves would be resisted.

Flanked by the provincial chief of Shabab-i-Milli, Rizwanullah, he accused the federal government of trying to do away with the MMA government in the NWFP to placate the West, adding that the organization would take steps to protect the provincial government.

He said that the NWFP Governor House and the Punjab House in Islamabad had become centres of the undemocratic activities.

“Water and power minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao is busy in purchasing members of the assembly. We will not allow this at any cost,” he said.

The western media, he said, had launched a propaganda campaign against the MMA government, adding that some people were talking about a no-confidence move while others talked about imposition of governor’s rule.
