PESHAWAR, Oct 24: A local trader and grandson of a former senator was kidnapped from the Ring Road allegedly by his rivals who had a monetary dispute with him, police told Dawn on Thursday.

Amjad Sarfaraz, owner of Indus Marble Factory and the grandson of former Senator from Mohmand Agency, Haji Behroz, was on his way from his home in Zaryab Colony to the factory on the Ring Road in his car on Tuesday morning when he was kidnapped, said victim’s father Sarfaraz, who registered a case on Wednesday night.

He told the police that Amjad’s car was stopped just before his factory. The abductors left the car at Takhatabad Jatai village in the Daudzai area and escaped with his son to an unknown place, he maintained.

Sarfaraz said that he had a dispute with Noor Rehman, a resident of Shero Jhangi, over an amount of $25,000. He claimed in the FIR that Noor Rehman had kidnapped his son with the help of his accomplices.

The police registered the case against Noor Rehman, Muaz Ullah, Tila Mohammad, Kachkol and his son Hassan. The police on Thursday arrested Tila Mohammad and started investigation.
