LAHORE, Oct 20: PPP secretary-general Jehangir Badr has underlined the need for organizing the party to translate people’s dreams into realities.
Speaking at a seminar here on Monday, he said the PPP had been launched for a solution to people’s problems and it was endeavouring for the same.
The seminar had been oragnized by Prof Ijazul Hasan. Party’s central information secretary Taj Haider, deputy information secretary Altaf Qureshi, Lahore women’s wing president Sajida Mir and Qazi Abdul Qadeer Khamosh were among the speakers.
Mr Badr recalled the PPP struggle since its inception and vowed to continue the same. He was critical of those leaders who had left the party, and made it clear that the party would not take them back even if they repented.
Taj Haider said economic problems of the masses must be addressed on a priority basis. He said when in power, the PPP had done its best to give the people food, clothing and shelter as promised in the party manifesto. He said the party would implement the same agenda if voted to power again.
He said the PPP would also implement the land reforms, announced by the late Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
Altaf Qureshi said prosperity of the masses, riddance from imperialist influence and dictatorship were the major targets the PPP was working for.
He alleged that Bhutto had been assassinated because imperialists did not like him to work for the ideals he was working for.
He said political parties would have to take effective measures to ward off military interventions in future. He said enforcement of Article 6 of the Constitution against all dictators and their collaborators could serve as a deterrent.
Abdul Qadir Shaheen and Munawwar Anjum were among the participants. —Staff Reporter
