Tannery zone planned

SIALKOT, Oct 20: The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry has demanded the government that it should release Rs120 million for a land for tannery zone.

In a representation to the Punjab CM, the officials stated that around 230 tanneries were scattered in the city discharging hazardous effluent in streams and water ways. These pose threat to human, animal and marine life. — Correspondent
