SRO410 to expire on Dec 31

By Our Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 11: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has further extended the temporary importation scheme under SRO410 up to December 31, 2003.

The decision was taken following the demands from various associations of exporters about the difficulties arising out of the expiring of SRO410 on September 30 last, said an official announcement issued on Saturday.

The SRO had earlier expired on December 31, 2002 but the tax officials kept clearing raw materials under the same SRO without re-validating it formally. The conditional exemption under the SRO was effective from August 7, 1998.

According to the announcement, it was clarified that DTRE rules were modified by a committee headed by chairman, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) in order to accommodate various points of view of the stakeholders. This comprehensive exercise was finalized before the budget 2003.

However, if there were still any issues left unresolved, the exporters concerned should expeditiously contact the member customs for examining any perceived difficulties.
