PESHAWAR, Oct 6: The Contract Doctors Association has demanded that the government should exempt doctors who have been working on a contractual basis from taking tests in order to get their contracts renewed.

“Since the government hasn’t responded to our demands, we have the right to approach the court to get our rights”, said provincial president   of the Contract Doctors Association Dr Taimoor Shah at a news conference here on Monday.

He informed that more than 1,000 doctors had been working on a contractual basis since 1995.

According to him most doctors had passed the public service commission (PSC) examinations more than twice and there was no need for them to appear in the examination again.

“The NWFP government has asked doctors to appear in the PSC examination scheduled to be held on October 20 in order to get their contracts renewed,” said Dr Shah.
