LONDON, Sept 30: British police said on Tuesday they had arrested 11 men under anti-terrorism laws in early morning raids in two English cities.

They said seven men were arrested in homes across north, south and east London, and another man was detained in Manchester, northern England. They were all suspected of being involved in the commission of or preparing to carry out attacks.

The men, aged in their 30s, were taken to a central London police station and would be interrogated by officers from the anti-terrorist branch.

Three other men were also arrested for questioning in Manchester.

Police said all 11 were believed to be Algerians.
